Top 7 Best Skullcandy Headphones

1. Skullcandy Crusher ANC (Best Overall)

Skullcandy Crusher ANC is the latest headphones launched by the company. The device is designed to please the bass-heads, and if you are one of them then this is a pair worth checking out.

The Crusher ANC is packed with 40mm drivers that produce a 20 Hz – 20 kHz frequency range. If you are playing any media within this frequency range, you will be able to play with the haptic feedback settings through the slider on the left ear cup which is pretty cool and feasible.

There are actually two apps that you can use with the Skullcandy Crusher ANC. The first, Skullcandy, configures an Audiodo personal sound stage based on your unique hearing. The second is the Tile app which allows you to locate your headset.

2. Skullcandy Venue ANC (Best Comfort)

Skullcandy Venue is a wireless headphone that includes active noise canceling (ANC) technology, a way to create a more immersive environment while they are worn.

The headphones are not only designed for listening to music but work with smartphones too through a Bluetooth connection. People can pick up calls, hold conversations, and engage with voice assistants on your phone including Siri and Cortana.

For anyone concerned about losing these headphones, they’re also embedded with Tile, the tech that tracks and locates items via a Bluetooth connection. The venue’s sound is very clear. There is some sound bleed when ANC is activated — you can hear what someone’s listening to through Venue if you’re sitting close to them.

Still, we found the noise-canceling far better with Venue than with Beats Solo. And comfort offered is of another level, hence Venue ANC is considered as one of the best Skullcandy headphones.

3. Skullcandy Crusher Evo (Best Battery Life)

The Crusher Evo is a bullseye for Skullcandy, which specifically set out to not only optimize bass streaming technics but also faithfully replicate live shows to the extent possible via the introduction of two specific audio advancements.

These enhancements include an improved version of the Crusher family’s existent feature, Skullcandy’s patented Sensory Haptic Bass, and the addition of Personal Sound from Audiodo, an audio personalization technology enabled through the Skullcandy iOS/Android application.

The features are easy to use, and the headphones plush, weighing less than two pounds. Crusher Evo’s over-the-ear design heightens the immersive quality of the Skullcandy listening experience, and although not noise-canceling, we did not find outside noise to be intrusive let alone generally perceivable when wearing the headphones.

This is likely partly due to the thickness of the headphone pads.

4. Skullcandy Crusher

The Skullcandy Crusher Wireless are decent over-ears for most use cases, with a unique bass slider to enhance their already bass-heavy sound. They have the best build and design out of all the Skullcandy headphones we’ve observed so far.

They’re also easy-to-use, have an excellent battery life, and sound fairly decent when you don’t use the slider. Unfortunately, the bass is a bit too much for most, especially if you engage the slider.

They also do not block a lot of noise and are a bit too tight on the head, which is a little uncomfortable at times. These headphones have a tight fit on the head that makes them stable enough to go running with.

They’re also wireless, so they won’t get yanked off your head because the audio cable got hooked by something. However, like the Hesh 3, they still have a somewhat cumbersome over-ear design that won’t be ideal for more intense workouts, since the headband will occasionally slide off your head when tilted.

They’re a decent option to take to the gym, but they won’t be ideal for demanding physical activities.

Specifications

  • Dimensions – 7.99 x 5.98 x 4.02 inches.
  • Weight – 8 ounces.
  • Battery Life – 35 hours.
  • Form Factor – Over-Ear.
  • Bluetooth version is 4.0.

Features

  • Crusher is featured with sensation 55 bass extension driver.
  • It has a REX40 driver.
  • The headphones offer a supreme sound effect.
Skullcandy Crusher headphones
Pros
  • Great battery life.
  • Prominent build quality.
  • Easy-to-use and good controls.
Cons
  • Bluetooth technology doesn’t work as expected.

5. Skullcandy Hesh 3

The first thing you’ll notice about the Skullcandy Hesh 3 wireless headphones is their design, and they’re pretty good-looking headphones.

They look extremely similar to the previously reviewed Crusher headphones, only a little smaller and with slightly tweaked control placement.

While they’re a little smaller than the Crusher headphones, the Skullcandy Hesh 3 Wireless headphones still offer an over-ear form factor, which is good news for the comfort level of the headphones.

The mids are obviously tuned, and we generally liked what they had to offer. The low-mids offered enough warmth for most, and while the high-mids could have been a little boosted to enable a more cutting vocal and guitar range, they were still present enough to offer a decent sound.

The high frequencies are really where these headphones shine. They’re clear and crisp, offering plenty of sizzle in the cymbals and vocal sibilance — which is a good thing.

Specifications

  • Dimensions – 1.69 x 7.32 x 7.79 inches.
  • Weight – 8 ounces.
  • Battery Life – 22 hours.
  • Form Factor – In-Ear.
  • Bluetooth version is 4.2.

Features

  • The headphone has a collapsible design.
  • The right earcup also houses the 3.5mm jack for listening in wired mode if the battery runs out.
Skullcandy Hesh 3 are one of the best Skullcandy headphones
Pros
  • Great battery life.
  • Sleek design.
  • The price point is affordable.
Cons
  • Build quality is not that good.

6. Skullcandy Hesh 2

The Hesh 2 look, feel and sound like high-end headphones yet remain reasonably priced. Rather than getting lost in pure looks and branding, Skullcandy really goes the extra step of ensuring that their headphones sound as amazing as they look.

The Hesh 2 are no exception when it comes to their quality control. The ear cups are made of a buttery soft leather rather than a synthetic material, which really makes these wear like premium headphones.

The headband has metal support so these can really be everyday headphones without you having to worry about damage. Overall the design is surprisingly sleek and simple, with the huge range of color options letting you get as bold as you want.

The Hesh 2 has a comfortable circumaural fit, which means the headphone ear cups cover the entire ear. Skullcandy used a super soft leather combined with lightweight construction, so you can use these for hours without fatigue.

However, the ear cup shape seems a little strange for some. The cups are very circular in shape and a little on the small side, so those with average to large ears can’t actually get their entire ear in the cup.

This is a minor annoyance but those with very large ears may find that they don’t get as much of a noise cancellation effect.

Specifications

  • Dimensions – 8.07 x 3.74 x 8.66 inches.
  • Weight – 1.01 pounds.
  • Battery Life – 15 hours.
  • Form Factor – Over-Ear.
  • Bluetooth version is 4.1.

Features

  • Memory foam ear pillows and ultra-durable flexible headband provide superior comfort for all-day wear.
  • Supreme Sound delivers attacking bass, natural vocals, and precision highs.
  • A single button in-line remote with mic can take/make calls, play/pause music, and cycle through tracks.
Skullcandy Hesh 2
Pros
  • Reasonable sound and price.
  • The wireless connection seems stable.
  • Decent battery life.
Cons
  • The design is generic.

7. Skullcandy Riff

Skullcandy Riff Wireless Headphones have a lightweight design with padded earcups, making them comfortable to wear even for long periods of time.

They feature a collapsible, flat-folding design so you can easily carry them in your bag or a backpack plus they’re wireless so you don’t have to worry about cables getting in the way.

But something to keep in mind about these headphones is that they don’t have an audio jack. So you can only use them wirelessly.

Now, these headphones are using Bluetooth 4.1 and I found they’re perfectly fine for watching movies or videos on your phone because they don’t have any latency.

Specifications

  • Dimensions – 7.24 x 3.15 x 8.27 inches.
  • Weight – 5.6 ounces.
  • Battery Life – 12 hours.
  • Form Factor – On-ear.
  • Bluetooth version is 4.1.

Features

  • They are featured with an ultra-durable headband.
  • It is also featured with a microphone, call, volume, track control, and activate the assistant.
Skullcandy Riff
Pros
  • Good audio quality.
  • Lightweight and comfortable.
Cons
  • The plastic body does not feel premium.
